The Story of H&S Interiors and Organization

Beautiful and functional design — born from chaos, built with heart.

The name H&S stands for more than just initials — it’s the union of two people, H (that’s me) and S (my husband), who shared a vision of what home could mean. Together, we are the passion behind every project, and the calm behind the chaos our clients often feel in their spaces.

Our story began in June 2020 — a time when the world felt completely upside down. While many businesses were closing, especially in the world of design, we were just foolish enough (or maybe brave enough) to start something new.

We weren’t offering just pretty rooms.
We were offering what the world was desperately craving: peace, order, and the kind of calm that only comes from a space that truly supports you.

The world had changed overnight.
Kitchens became classrooms. Dining tables turned into desks. Closets had to double as gyms. The entire family was always home, and our homes had to work harder — and smarter — than ever before.
We had just finished designing and furnishing our custom home in 2016, and our friends and family kept asking: “Can you help me do this too?”

For years, I had toyed with the idea of starting a home organization business. But let’s be honest — the thought of actually launching a company? Terrifying.
Still, I knew one thing deep down: great design isn’t just about having beautiful cabinetry or curated living rooms. It’s about designing for real life.

Where do the toys go when guests come over?
How do we store everything without feeling like we live in a storage unit?
How can a space feel like us — but elevated?

Those were the questions that mattered. That’s where our signature focus on beautiful and functional was born. It’s not just our slogan — it’s our compass.

In a moment of clarity (and possibly caffeine-fueled bravery), I stood in our kitchen and filled out an LLC application on my phone.
S found an accountant. We got the paperwork signed.
With a small startup cost, a lot of heart, and zero clue how long furniture delays were about to become… H&S was officially open for business.

Our first client? A full house furniture plan — in California. Remote before remote was cool.

Yes, there were growing pains:

  • Shipping delays

  • Pandemic-era construction chaos

  • The steep learning curve of running a business during a global crisis

But I was committed to learning — not just from experience, but through formal training. I earned my credentials, studied hand rendering, and trained in 3D software to better communicate with contractors and bring our clients' visions to life in ways they could see and feel.

Over time, our client base grew. Our systems got stronger. And two years ago, we took another leap — we relocated our business to Austin, Texas. We still proudly serve our Houston clients, but we’re now deeply rooted in Bee Cave, Lakeway, and surrounding Hill Country communities.
It’s a new chapter. A bigger challenge. A beautiful opportunity.

We’re still learning. Still growing. Still driven by the same mission that brought us here:
To create homes that feel good because they function well — and to make design that’s not just for the magazine, but for real, vibrant, everyday family life.

That’s the story of H&S. And we’re just getting started.
